A Human Recession...
Last week Shaklee's amazing visionary CEO, Roger Barnett, was part of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland where he met with 2500 world CEOs, heads of state, non-profit leaders etc. and they talked about helping with the world economy. It was announced that the US economy’s gross domestic products grew 4-5% last quarter, ending Dec 31. However, the Chief Economic Adviser of the US to the president said that we are having industrial growth but it's a "Human Recession"...even though the economy grew, the people were left out of it. Actually unemployment is close to 16-17% because it includes the 10% unemployment plus people who work only part-time or one day a week and would like full time work. That means that 1 out of every 6 Americans are unemployed. And almost half of them are unhappy with the job they have. All that to say “ I LOVE WHAT I GET TO DO!!”
Here's the thing. What Rod and I “get to do” through our business is make a contribution to our county. We are able to provide an income opportunity for people today, and to do it in a way that is taking advantage of the mega trends. We are participating in educating people about preventative health care. If you keep people healthy and they don’t get sick, it helps the economy because they don’t have to spend so much money on “disease care.” Not to mention a better quality of life. hello? ( I used to get so ticked at my mommy friends when my kids were young because they had Kaiser insurance and it didn't cost to take the kids to the doctor, they choose that rather than ways to keep their kids with dry noses and no ear infections. WHO WANTS A SICK KID just because you have insurance for the doctor. Mine were never sick. That's a secret for another blog)
And we get to do this while helping others have better health and discover their dreams and all the while protecting the planet.
