Great reasons why dietitians recommend supplements

With March being National Dietitian Month, it's so easy to blog about things that I am passionate about like health and good food choices and wise and safe supplementation.  I mean, there has been a lot of press on some bad choices that people and companies are making, according to the Dateline March 18 broadcast.  Check it out yourself here.  Are you with me on this?

So here is a published survey from some professionals who are there to help us eat right and how they feel about supplements.

Basically, in a survey of 300 dietitians, 74% used dietary supplements regularly and 22 % used supps occasionally.  Primary reasons for supplement usage were used bone health ( 585), overall health and wellness ( 53%) and to fill nutrient gaps ( 42%).  97% of dietitians also recommended supplements to clients & 87% agreed that gaps in the diet could effectively be addressed with supplements.

And both of my favorite dietitians use them. The first is my sweet daughter in law Rebecca Bell, MS., RD.  and just the other day told me how much our granddaughter loves the Shaklee Incredivites ( children's multi). And she has used Shaklee supplements, even through her pregnancies. This is addition to very good choices that go on their plates. Their fridge is mostly fresh organic fruits and veggies.  Am I blessed or what?!!

Another favorite is Pamela Riggs, MS., RD. (Registered Dietitian with a Master's Degree in Human Nutrition in Health and Disease) She has over 24 years of professional experience in the field of nutrition and has been part of the Shaklee Health Science Team for over 14 years.  She helps develop products that are SAFE and effective and helps educate consumers ( me) about the scientific integrity behind Shaklee products.

So you have the choices.  Even if you start small.   Add more fresh and crunchy things to your meal ( not chips)
and look into supplementing with vitamins that you know are from a company that is SAFE.

  1. I totally agree with you on this. Supplements are so important, and I'm glad dietitians agree too.
