Not sweet news about the new detergent pods poisoning our kids

What do you think this looks like to a child?  candy perhaps?   You will hear me talk about sugar as poison, but it would be a lot better if this laundry soap were a sweet treat.

They are called pods. laundry detergent and brightener all in one. Just throw it in.  Come on, do we really need to entice moms this way  to do the
laundry? Maybe it would be better as a coffee bean in a big Starbucks mug...

The Headline from ABC news tonight reads:                                                        Laundry Detergent Pods Poisoning Children

ARE YOU SERIOUS?  So here I am on my soapbox again pleading with you moms and dads to ignore the plethora of marketing ploy and  think about your children. My eyes burn just writing about this. The article told of an 18 month old  who put one in his mouth and it burst ( kids put things in their mouths...especially bright things that look like candy or rattles or teething rings or toys) " He was rushed to the ER with severe nausea, vomiting and diarrhea."  Probably had a lot more laundry after that too.
The American Association of Poison Control Centers are reporting a recent SURGE in calls  about the pods making kids violently ill. “The children who are getting into these little pods are developing many more symptoms than we would have expected,” Bruce Ruck, director of drug information and professional education at New Jersey Poison Center, told ABC News. Let's see, in the last 20 days, 180 calls...  Reports included toddlers developing vomiting, wheezing and gasping within minutes of swallowing or biting  onto one of the pods.  The article continued saying " some of them became non-responsive or had to be put on ventilators or intubated."
And the container even looks like a candy jar.  Just keep them out of reach of kids, is the answer the spokesman gave. Sorry, my monkeys would crawl and find a way if they thought it were candy.
You can read the whole article yourself here.
My answer;  Have your candy in a jar in the cupboard and GET RID OF THE TOXINS IN YOUR HOME. Period.
