My mother is an angel. If you met her, you would know that too. She is so sweet and has a
heart for others. And her beauty flows in every part of her DNA. I am thankful for the strong heritage passed on from her mother and other women who went before us.
I have such wonderful memories of growing up in Africa and just thought it was the way life was for us, never realizing what it was like for her to give birth to 5 kids out there and raise them, never realizing what it was like to watch them go away to boarding school when they were young. I lucked out for the most part because they were houseparents most of my time at boarding school. And the other years, I had my older sister and brothers. Through my teen years, there was never the rebellious attitude that seems normal for moms and their teenage daughters. I was so blessed to have parents that loved us and loved each other.
I remember when she flew out to San Diego for the birth of our firstborn Jared and was there through the long hours of labor and then when we welcomed him into the world...and I became a mother.
I love her heart for prayer and value it so much how even to this day she and my father spend time every morning reading the Bible and praying for each of our kids.
I love watching her in ministry, whether it's leading the women's group or a prayer seminar or using her creative talents and planning activities and retreats for the Joy group.
My mother introduced us to Shaklee 30 years ago and that has made such an impact in our health and also our ability to be able to both be home to raise our sons when they were young. Now we enjoy working in the business together.
I love going home to visit and wish we lived even closer. I love the memories of picking blueberries or singing together or playing Pinte. I love bursting out in laughter together and dad can't figure out what has gotten into us.I love pulling taffy together and of course eating it too! I love hearing her tell stories of her travels all over the world when she was on the Women's committee with the 10-40 window project. I love talking on the phone everyday and hearing who she is going to visit and take some food or just a plant and encourage their day. Seriously, I can't keep up with their busy schedule.
So many years filled with such richness. So much that she has poured into me that she doesn't realize. Such an incredible woman that I am privileged to call Mother.
I love you Mom.
