While most companies shy away from a third-party independent study, Shaklee has always welcomed them. When Shaklee developed VIVIX one important question was whether this break-through supplement could PREVENT a CHRONIC INFLAMMATION RESPONSE and resulting FREE RADICAL DAMAGE.  So...Shaklee commissioned an independent study conducted in at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
This latest study  was recently published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism.  The question they wanted to investigate: does a resveratrol supplement (which was Shaklee’s Vivix) guard against the damage of a high-fat, high-carb fast-food diet? And Shaklee has
In the study, a group of young, healthy, normal-weight adults were fed a typical fast food breakfast (egg & sausage muffin sandwiches and two servings of hash browns).
The damage of that breakfast:  910 calories and 17 grams of saturated fat (practically a whole day’s worth!).
Previous studies of the same topic showed that a fast food meal such as this turns on genes that cause a huge increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) that then causes an inflammatory response.
Side note: from heart disease to cancer, inflammation is the underlying cause of illness.
However, what made this most recent study different is that one group was given a serving of Vivix and another a placebo 10 minutes before the meal.
Those who took their Vivix showed the following results:
- The genes that produce free radicals were not activated.
- The genes that cause inflammatory response were not activated.
- Genes that control antioxidant response were active.
So, does this mean that you can eat as much fast food as you want so long as you take Vivix— well, we certainly don’t recommend it.  However, it does continue to show Vivix’s incredible healing abilities with more clinical studies to prove it! And for anyone who is dealing with inflammatory issues, it's worth checking out....because Shaklee sure did their homework!!
